Episode #21: Sherpa Guides
We live in an increasingly digital age where there is a lot of information but not nearly as much wisdom. In the past old age has taken on a somewhat negative connotation. But in old age the emphasis shifts from doing to being. Unfortunately, our civilization has become lost in doing and is focused less and less about being.
We need to develop the wisdom to understand the distinction between our ability to think thoughts and our enlightened power of being present in each moment. We need to move beyond our thoughts. For those who are ready, this intellectual and emotional awakening will shift their consciousness. With each person who awakens the collective wisdom grows. Once begun, this process of moving toward our enlightenment is irreversible.
The journey to the dissolution of our physical form accelerates as we get older. It also carries with it great potential for the awakening of our authentic, emotionally intelligent self. In most ancient cultures old people were the repositories of experience and wisdom without which no civilization could survive. During these rapidly changing times the elder among us are being recognized for their potential as Sherpa guides to the young masters of the digital age. This is the new sharing economy.
