MBL Minute: New Habit Mastery And Soft Skills
Episode Notes
The key to habit mastery is the dedicated
ongoing practice of the new action. If we want better results we need to develop better
habits. At first, this may sound obvious but it is far from
easy. There is significant biological (internal) and
sociological (external) resistance to our development of any new
habit. The process requires emotional labor of leaving our
comfort zone repeatedly over time. This is how we develop new
habit mastery. Habituation or automaticity is the process
that our mind uses to create mastery over the actions we practice
each day.
World Economic Forum has declared emotional intelligence will be a Top-10 required skill by 2020. Lack of knowledge is not what is holding us back from the results we desire. It is our emotional fear of change. The measurement of profit and loss has given executives a great place to hide their fear of change. It is the simplest measurement in the world. Just keep making your budget numbers and nothing else matters.
